This past spring, our W.T. Johnson nursing home abuse lawyers settled a $900,000 dental insurance class action suit. The lawsuit was against two large insurance companies in Tulsa, O.K.
The case stated that the defendants improperly marketed dental insurance policies to 1,600 Medicaid recipients in nursing homes in Oklahoma. Some of the nursing home residents that bought the insurance didn’t even have teeth, and many didn’t realize they had bought the policies. The policies provided coverage that they already had under Medicaid.
Because the claimants came to the Law Office of W.T. Johnson for help, now every claimant will get full reimbursement of the money they spent on dental insurance policies.
This is the second nursing home class action concerning dental policies that the Law Office of W.T. Johnson has handled in Oklahoma.
“Nursing home residents are among the most vulnerable in society, and they’re often victimized because of it. They were victims here,” said W.T. Johnson attorney David Crowe.
Since the settlement, both defendants have stopped their operations in Oklahoma.
