A North Texas family was concerned about their mother, 83-year-old Mynez Carter, after they saw her unexplained bruises and how she tried to dodge away from anyone who tried to hug her. They installed a hidden camera in her room to see what was happening when they weren’t around.
The family was shocked at the rough treatment shown in the video. One worker was putting a pillow under Mynez’s head while pulling Mynez’s hair and pushing her head around. In another clip, a worker pinches her leg.

Mynez has Alzheimer’s disease and needs constant care. She is a resident at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Arlington, TX. Her children met with the administrator of the nursing home and showed him the video. He disagrees about what the video shows, and the Carter family says he is trying to justify what happened.
The nursing home director did have an internal investigation and said he will report his findings to the state. The family also filed a police report. Arlington police are researching the incident, but no one has been formally charged yet in the case.
