Hey Texans! Do you consider yourself a good driver? If true, you might be in the minority, according to a new report. Ahead of only Louisiana and Missouri, Texans ranked as the worst drivers in the county.
Not a fantastic stat to be remembered by, Texas ranked in the bottom 20 of nearly every driving category researched. As a result, Texas also records some of the highest car insurance rates in the country.
So, what is the reasoning behind this terrible trend? Inattentive drivers play a big part in these findings, as do distracted drivers and of course, drunken drivers. As Texans, it is our job to protect our streets and highways, though it doesn’t look like we’ve been doing such a great job of that lately.
The next time you’re on the road, put down your cell phone and pay attention. Skip that drink, and be a designated driver for your friends, or talk to your children about safe driving. If we all do our part, next year’s statistics might not be so bad – and that will be good for everyone.
