As the weather starts to warm up, more dog owners are walking their dogs around town and at the parks. Even though many dogs are friendly and harmless, every year many people receive dog bite injuries from aggressive dogs. It’s important to know the signs of dog aggression, so that you and your loved ones won’t end up with dog bite injuries.

One common type of dog aggression is fear aggression. These dogs don’t like being touched, so they might bite you because they are scared. If a dog is displaying any of these signs of submissive body language, back away slowly from the dog:

  • Ears held back
  • Avoiding eye contact
  • Lowered head and body
  • Tail tucked between legs
  • Submissive urination

Other dogs might show signs of having dominant aggression. These dogs are domineering and can display these signs of aggressive behavior:

  • Low-range barking
  • Growling
  • Snapping
  • Standing tall with erect ears
  • Moving tail stiffly from side to side

Another way a dog might show aggressive tendencies is through dog to dog aggression. If a dog shows any of these signs, they could bite other dogs:

  • Exposing teeth
  • Lunging
  • Pricked ears
  • Direct eye contact
  • Teeth exposed to other dogs

Many times dog bites occur due to the negligence of a dog owner. If you or a loved one were the victim of a dog bite or dog attack, you deserve justice for your emotional and physical trauma. Contact the Law Offices of W.T. Johnson today and set-up your free consultation.
