Recently a Dallas man was convicted of charges stemming from a car accident in March 2011 that left a woman dead. He was sentenced to four to eight years in prison.

Wickham was sentenced by Judge Joseph Sklarsky on charges of homicide by motor vehicle and two counts of driving under the influence. He was convicted of the charges after a jury trial in September.

Denise Polinchak was having brake issues with her car, so she was getting it towed in the area near the Social Security Administration building on East Mountain Road. Wickham, the tow truck driver, was in the driver’s seat of her car with the door open when he accelerated the car.

The open door hit Denise and knocked her to the pavement, according to prosecutors. She died at the hospital later that day. Her death was ruled a homicide since prosecutors alleged that Wickham drank three 24-ounce cans of beer before he was dispatched by his employer to her vehicle.

In 2011, there were 23,193 Dallas car accidents and 110  car accident fatalities. Car accidents are a common occurrence in a large metropolitan area like Dallas—but if your loved one was the victim of a Dallas car accident, you still deserve justice.
